It's down to two weeks now, as we are confirmed to fly on March 6th from Chicago-Atlanta-Dakar. It should be about 12 hours from Chicago until we land in Dakar.
We're continuing with our household packing and are checking things off the to-do list at a good clip. Our vaccinations are complete and we've arranged for the prescription medication we'll need. We've just returned from a quick trip South to see family and friends before we go.
Things are coming together!

More Pics

Down to 31 days until departure! Our tickets have been purchased. Or have they?!? we got a call that we have to fly Chicago-Paris-Dakar instead of Chicago-Atlanta-Dakar, which we prefered because of the shorter stopover. We'll figure it out.
Here are a few more pictures from Luc and Anita's website showing what will be our new church (building), a view inside the clinic and a picture of the mango/citrus orchard. It should be easier to find a decent mango while we're there!

It's a go!

Here we go! After the first suggestion way back in October 2006 that we may go to the Casamance region of Senegal, Africa for one year, the final approvals were given just last week! Now we're ramping up the preliminary preparations that we've been working at slowly since October. Lots to do!
Luc and Anita Sabot are the project leaders in Dakar, Senegal who offered this opportunity to Tammy and I. Their website is http://sabot.ca/ and we'll be adding some of the pictures they've taken at the dispensary in Niaguis where we'll be 'stationed'.

We're now in the process of figuring out exactly what we need to bring and what we can get in Senegal instead. We're also going to be arranging our vaccinations, etc., in a compressed timeframe over the next month...
